This three-day event brought together leading researchers to explore cutting-edge developments at the intersection of artificial intelligence and statistical science, opening with an insightful workshop on reinforcement learning and featuring recent advances in online statistical inference, sequential decision-making, and causal machine learning.
CSTAT welcomes Arash Yunesi as Research Specialist!
Dr. Yunesi joined CSTAT in July as our newest full-time statistics research specialist!
In his research he developed models, algorithms, and computational tools for use on cancer transcriptomics data. He gained valuable experiences in his internships at MD Anderson Cancer Center and the Food and Drug Administration. He supports researchers from the Natural Sciences and across MSU.

CSTAT at the New Faculty Resource Fair
CSTAT teamed up with Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) core facilities to provide information for new MSU faculty.
Marianne Huebner serves on a statistical consulting panel at the Joint Statistical Meetings 2025
The panel "Navigating the Role of an Academic Consultant: Challenges, Opportunities, and Best Practices" discussed experiences of directors of statistical consulting centers from University of Nebraska, University of Kentucky, Michigan State University, and University of Missouri.
CSTAT visits the CED ice cream social
Rayleigh and Marianne visited with faculty and staff from the College of Education. Dean's patio in Erickson Hall.
CSTAT team visits the MSU special collection of Zines
CSTAT has several statistics Zines on study design, statistical analysis plan, roles of variables, and more. Today we got an introduction by MSU libraries Joshua Barton on the fascinating Zine collection.
CSTAT welcomes Rayleigh Lei to the statistics team!
Dr. Lei joined CSTAT in July as our newest full-time statistics research specialist!
In his research he developed Bayesian models and efficient computational tools, for example in social sciences applications. He supports researchers in the College of Education and from across MSU.
CSTAT outing to the MSU women's basketball game
Despite snow storm and severe weather our CSTAT Team enjoyed an outing to watch the MSU women's basketball game.
