Introduction to Rasch Measurement


Rasch measurement is a method to examine whether the responses to the items on a test or questionnaire meet requirements for interval measurement. This workshop will start with a short overview of the theory, statistics, and data requirements for Rasch measurement. We will then go through the typical steps of a Rasch analysis for dichotomous outcomes, including item targeting, dimensionality analysis, and item fit, and we will work through an example together. We will then discuss Rasch analysis for polytomous (rating scale or partial credit) outcomes, including additional analytical steps including rating scale analysis, and work through an example.
